Tuesday 18 February - Archena

Where's Bertie? He's still sitting in the Aire at Archena.
Weather: Cloudy, occasionally rain and cool (max 13 degrees).

The first time we opened the door (or even looked out) this morning was as we were about to step out to go in search of a supermarket. I was greeted by the sight of rain so light that we hadn't heard it on Bertie's roof. "I'm not going out in that!" I declared "Groceries can wait until later."

Then I looked at the weather forecast and was convinced (light rain now, heavy rain later, it said) that sooner was going to be better than later. Waterproof jackets were donned and they did their job nicely: the rain promptly stopped and we made it the mile across town and back again without a single drop of moisture falling on us.

After three weeks of good weather, and more of the same forecast from the end of this week, active plans for today were scrapped in favour of mainly indoor activities, with just a couple of little strollettes had this afternoon.

That was broken up by half hour or so in the middle of the day when, on our way to find a recycling bin (you're never far away from one in Spain), we got waylaid talking to some other Brits: Steve, Steve and Jane. We'd recognised their vehicles as they drove in, having parked opposite one and next to the other at Simat de la Valldigna two weeks ago.

That conversation was held standing next to this impressively decorated vehicle:

Photo taken yesterday. There was no blue in the sky today.

It was only later in the day, as I stared out of Bertie's windscreen looking at the other side of the same vehicle (equally well decorated, but I haven't got a snap of that side) that a bell was rung in my mind. I scrolled back through the photo gallery on my phone to when we were in Sagres, in the very south west corner of Portugal, last March and came up with the confirmation I was after:

Yep, in another of those 'What are the chances of that?!' incidents, we find ourselves parked four vans away from a vehicle that we parked with in a random car park in a different country last year. It really makes me wonder how often this happens, but with ordinary white boxes so nondescript that there would be no reason to recognise them.

The only photo I took today. Contender for the 'least useful map funded by the local council' award.
